Project Background Bishoftu International Airport represents one of Africa’s largest aviation infrastructure projects. H.E. Abiy Ahmed (PhD), Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, laid the project’s foundation stone on 10 January 2026, officially kicking‑off full‑scale construction. Hundreds of earth‑moving machines, dump trucks and excavators are deployed across the construction site. The massive construction fleet brought notable operational pain points: unregulated fuel consumption, high fuel‑theft risks, lack of real‑time equipment status visibility, inefficient vehicle dispatching and difficulties in equipment maintenance management. To achieve refined control over large‑scale construction vehicles, the project adopted ORVIKAN Fuel Monitoring System & Cloud‑Based Fleet Management Platform to digitally upgrade on‑site machinery and support efficient delivery of this landmark African aviation infrastructure.

1. Numerous scattered excavators and heavy‑duty dump trucks; conventional management failed to measure accurate fuel consumption, exposing the site to fuel loss and theft.
2. Manual supervision could not identify idle‑running and non‑productive working cycles, resulting in unnecessary cost waste.
3. Vehicle location, working hours and equipment conditions lacked unified visual monitoring; dispatching and maintenance relied heavily on delayed manual records.
4. Harsh outdoor African site conditions demanded industrial‑grade hardware with strong shock‑resistance, dust‑proof performance and wide operating temperature ranges for heavy‑duty machinery.
5. A centralized management system was required for multi‑device oversight, supporting both on‑site and remote access aligned with overseas project workflows.
